MATCH REPORT
Runcorn Town made it a 100% start to life in Vodkat League Division One with a 4-0 home victory over fellow newcomers to the league AFC Darwen.

Town put in another dominant first half performance with all the goals coming in the opening 45 minutes, and had it not been for Darwen's MOM Adam Chester in goal, it could have been a lot more.

Emini Adegbenro opened his account for the season with a thunderous shot after 20 minutes which no goalkeeper would have stopped after Simon Burton appeared to be felled just inside the box.

Two minutes later the lead was doubled with Warren Bellew cutting in from the right hand side and beating two defenders before scoring at the second attempt after Chester had saved his initial effort.

Darwen were resticted to mainly long range efforts which were off target, with Greg Byrne and Tom Davies outstanding in the centre of Town's defence.

The third came after 35 minutes through James McShane, who raced onto Bellew's through ball before slotting past Chester. And McShane made it four to become the league's early leading goalscorer with a header into the corner of the net from 15 yards from Darren Kinsey's cross.

The second half saw Town take the foot off the gas a little but they should still have added to the scoreline with Town's MOM Danny Cummins at the heart of most of the home side's moves.

Adegbenro should have had a second when he advanced towards goal and shot wide with the keeper to beat, with Town's winger also setting up Jason Carey whose fierce shot struck a defender in the box.

Darren Kinsey forced a good save from a 25-yard free kick, Ian Robinson drilled wide from Carey's low cross from the left, and McShane saw a hat-trick chance disappear when he tried to slot it past Chester, the keeper making a good save.

All told Town were once again worthy winners on the day, and the next test comes next Saturday with Town's first away game in the Vodkat League against Oldham Boro.
