MATCH REPORT
A convincing win for the Town, John Parry making his debut was magnificent in a unfamiliar position of left centre back with Rod Looker & Paul Egerton trying out new formations throughout pre season.
This time they opted for a 3-5-2 with Angell, Ginever and Parry at the back in front of stand in keeper Paul (the cat) Illidge, in midfield from right to left Rob Colquitt, Mark McGrath, Rob Gorry, Jason McShane & Richie Hargraves & up top Tom Lupton & Ged Bushell. Town soon dominated proceedings and looked most likely to score throughout the first half, Tom Lupton was unlucky not to open his account when rising to meet a Colquitt cross from the right and Ged Bushell almost stole the show with a dynamic overhead volley which the home keeper somehow turned over the bar with honours even at half time. The second half saw Town up the pace and Rob Gorry opened the scoring with a neat finish from 20 yards out firing low into the bottom corner after picking up the ball from Richie Hargreaves' intelligent pass inside the defence. This was swiftly followed by a rare strike from David Ginever though it has to be said when G scores they are like Burger Kings Finest “whoppers”. Having started the move by breaking up play in his own half he continued his run and met Bushell excellent pass into space controlling the pass with his right before expertly slotting home what proved to be the decisive goal with his left foot. This was another good performance from the reserves in their final warm up before the season starts at Crewe FC on Saturday.
