MATCH REPORT
Runcorn Town's first pre-season game ended in victory after a hard fought 3-1 victory over Ashville on Vauxhall Motors' synthetic pitch.
James McShane put Town ahead after 24 minutes following a fine run from the right hand side, and with space opening up, he unleashed a shot that went in off the underside of the crossbar. FIFA needed no goalline technology for this one. Ashville's equaliser came after 35 minutes when a long ball from the left found Ashville's number nine who got between Town's two defenders before firing an unstoppable shot past Karl Wills. Mass changes at half time stagnated the game somewhat but Town retook the lead after 79 minutes when Jason Carey headed Danny Salt into the bottom corner. Five minutes later Town had a two goal cushion when Town scored from a free kick 20-yards from goal. Rob Colquitt was fouled when receiving the ball, with Tyson Eyo curling a shot into the top right hand corner.
