MATCH REPORT
Halton ended Runcorn Town's unbeaten home record this season and avenged Tuesday's Pyke Cup defeat with a 2-1 victory in today's league game.

Town had a couple of early chances with Emini Adegbenro squandering the best of them after 7 minutes when his shot across goal went just wide of the left hand post. Halton threatened immediately with Craig Ireland shooting just over following a corner from the right.

Another corner after 14 minutes put the visitors ahead with Liam Page's cross creeping in at the near post with keeper Carl Williams unable to keep it out.

Town gradually worked their way back into the game with Tony Wynne going close from Simon Burton's flick and Tyson Eyo seeing a shot and follow up both saved by Neil Percival. Pressure finally told after 33 minutes when Ste Latham's glancing header from Eyo's free kick found the bottom right hand corner.

The home side pressured for a second before the break with Tony Wynne twice bursting through but overrunning his final touch, with Town unable to create any real goalscoring opportunities. Instead it was Halton who almost took the lead into half time with Karl Kneale's last ditch tackle stopping Joe McCartney.

Halton retook the lead two minutes in the second half with Page the provider this time. He got away down the right hand side despite the home side protesting for offside, with Gary Tyrrell stroking Page's low cross into the net.

Town created little of note with Halton keeper Neil Percival stopping Town's best effort when he twice saved from Simon Burton in the box following Warren Bellew's cross.

As it was it was Halton who could have added to their tally with Paul Hives' free kick coming back off the left hand post and substitute Ray McDonald somehow hitting the ball wide when it looked easier to score.

Overall a disappointing day for Town, with Halton worthy winners in a derby which they ultimately wanted to win more.
