MATCH REPORT
With Lairds winning 6-1 at Vauxhall, Town extended their unbeaten start to the season to stay hot on their heels with Jason Carey and Tony Wynne both hitting hat-tricks. Upton should have been ahead after 10 minutes when they were awarded a penalty for a foul by Emini Adegbenro, but Karl Wills saved his third penalty of the season from Danny Andrews. Town were woeful for the opening quarter with passes going astray and various players being caught offside, however Upton were not able to capitalise and properly test Wills. The first real effort for Town came midway through the half with Tyson Eyo going close with a long range effort. The opening goal arrived after 35 minutes from Town's first real shot on target, with Carey making no mistake from the edge of the box after Warren Bellew had put him clear. Town suddenly were looking rampant with Mini making a run down the left and seeing his low cross put out for a corner with Bellew waiting to pounce. The second goal came after 40 minutes with Carey again on target after Tyson Eyo had played him in. The third arrived a minute later with the move of the game. Mark Toohey's delightful ball down the left put Mini ahead of the defender, and his low cross was turned in by Wynne in the box. The second half was much better from Town with the visitors continually finding joy down both flanks. Defensively they were very tight with Dave Ginever in particular blocking everything Upton threw at them. Substitute Ian Robinson did well to create space on the right on the hour but his low cross was just ahead of Wynne. Another Robinson cross shortly after was deflected onto the bar by a defender under pressure from Carey. The inevitable fourth goal came after 73 minutes when the hapless Andy Lloyd diverted Wynne's cross from the right into his own net. Upton's heads appeared to drop after this goal with Mini seeing a shot deflected for a corner after he beat three men on the left. Mini also drilled a free kick into the wall which left an Upton defender seeing stars for the remainder of the game. Town adding three more in the final seven minutes of the game with substitute Marvin Molyneux instrumental in all three. Wynne scored his second of the game after 83 minutes after Molyneux played him in on the right, with the forward showing good feet in the box to create space for himself for a simple finish. Two minutes later Molyneux played in Wynne again on the right with the forward squaring it to Carey who scored his hat-trick at the second attempt with keeper Chris Thompson blocking his first effort. The final goal of the game arrived in stoppage time with Wynne getting clear of the defence from another Molyneux ball before being fouled in the box. Wynne himself got up and slotted home for his hat-trick, with the goal securing his position as West Cheshire League One's leading scorer with 11 goals.
