MATCH REPORT
Two goals each from Jon McEvoy and Warren Bellew gave the game an emphatic looking scoreline although three of the goals came in the last 15 minutes of the game. Emini Adegbenro had an early opportunity to put Town ahead after just five minutes when McEvoy put him through but his shot was straight at the keeper. Town enjoyed some good possession but struggled to break through in the final third of the pitch. Jon McEvoy finally gave Town the lead after 23 minutes when Warren Bellew released Tony Wynne down the right hand side and his cross was controlled and despatched by Macca in the box. Five minutes later Mini cut in from the right hand side and shot just wide of the left hand post as Town threatened. The visitors kept finding space on the right with Danny Dalton, Mini and Bellew all getting clear on that side but it was the final ball that was lacking. Town should have added a second following a great move towards the end of the first half. After possession football in midfield, Marvin Molyneux spread the ball left to Bellew who slid the ball through McEvoy, but with just the keeper to beat he shot wide of the post. The second half started with Lostock on top as they threatened with a succession of corners and free kicks from the right hand side but they couldn't quite get the breaks to force Karl Wills into a save. Chances at the other end were not as frequent in the second half but when they finally arrived Town were more clinical. The second goal arrived after 75 minutes when Danny Cummins put Bellew through the centre and he coolly slotted past the keeper. A minute later it was 3-0 with Bellew getting his second of the game when Danny Dalton released Wynne down the right and he pulled the ball back to Bellew who fired home. The fourth arrived after 83 minutes after Bellew got to the byline and pulled it back for McEvoy to grab his second. Bellew almost had his hat-trick two minutes later when Mini got clear on the right and pulled it back to him but Town's leading scorer saw his shot saved on the line by Chris German. Lostock's best chance came in stoppage time from the penalty spot, but Karl Wills dived to his left to save his second penalty of the season from Liam Henderson.
