MATCH REPORT
Danny Cummins' goal grabbed Town a deserved 1-1 draw against a Liverpool County Premier League XI on Tuesday.

In what has become somewhat an annual fixture, Liverpool invited Town be opponents as they warmed up for their National League Cup game against the Northern League on Saturday.

Town started with players who have been on the fringes this season as manager Simon Burton opted to look at players, and he stuck with it until half time when eight changes were made.

Marvin Molyneux had a good opportunity early on after a good move involving Mike Boyle and Will Conway but his shot was well wide of the right hand post. Liverpool's early shots were two efforts that went way over the bar but they went ahead after 16 minutes with Town not dealing with a corner from the right that was headed straight in past Lee Carroll.

After 24 minutes Danny Dalton came close to equalising when he headed Will Conway's shot onto the bar. Aarron Brown also came close after 37 minutes when Connor Anderson played him in, but his curling effort was tipped around the post by the keeper.

After the half time changes Town looked a more solid unit and Danny Cummins, playing in his preferred midfield position, burst through but saw his shot saved. On the hour Town equalised when Cummins headed in Ste Latham's corner from the left.

Town 'keepers Carroll (1st half) and Karl Wills (2nd half) had little to do apart from deal with crosses from the wings. Town were on top and should have secured vistory in the game but for some glaring missed chances.

Warren Bellew broke through and saw his shot saved with debutant Franny (no he isnt Brazilian - just dont know his surname!) seeing his follow up cleared off the line.

Franny also got clear on the right and crossed early to give Jon McEvoy an open goal, but he opted to slip in order to challenge Burton for "miss of the season" (see Maghull).

In the last ten minutes Ste Latham and Bellew were both played clear of the defence to go one on one with the keeper, but neither could get the winner.
