Paul was a member of Runcorn Town's successful Youth Team in 2005/06 for whom he was a prolific goalscorer.

Progressed through to the Reserves, making his debut against neighbours Halton in February 2006 and scoring his first goal against Blacon Youth Club in April of the same year.

Left the club shortly after to join Cronton Villa, but rejoined the club at the start of the 2010/11 season.
