TOWN TOP PREMIER DIVISION AFTER WIN
Runcorn Town climbed to the summit of the North West Counties Premier Division after a 3-1 home victory over Winsford United.

James McShane gave Town the perfect start by opening the scoring in the fourth minute of the game as he latched on to Danny Dalton's perfect through ball and hit a first time shot past the keeper.

It got even better after 15 minutes when the visiting defence allowed Karl Wills' goal kick to bounce in defence, with McShane nipping in to score his 18th goal of the season.

Both sides to their credit tried to play football on a wet pitch with chances at a premium, and Town took the two goal lead into half time.

On the hour mark Winsford got themselves back into the game on the hour mark with a goal from former Town midfielder Ryan Broadhead, who made four appearances in the 2007/08 season. The defence failed to deal with a corner with Broadhead stabbing the ball home from close range.

Town finally made the game safe with seven minutes remaining when McShane's shot from inside the box was blocked and fell to Mark Keddie. His shot was deflected past the keeper and into the bottom left hand corner, with Town seeing out the victory to top the league for the first time.
