Runcorn Town registered their fourth successive victory in September and climbed to third place in the North West Counties League Premier Division with a 2-0 win over Alsager Town at Pavilions.
There was little to separate the two clubs in the first half and just as it looked like both sides would go in level at the break, Town went ahead. Alsager's defence inexplicably left a through ball to go to the keeper, with James McShane nipping in to score his 13th goal of the season.
The second half saw Town begin to take control of the game, and after several missed opportunities, Mark Keddie made sure of the points with 18 minutes remaining. Warren Bellew played the ball to Keddie's feet from the left, with the midfielder riding two challenges before hammering the ball into the net.
