TOWN CRUISE THROUGH DEBUT FA CUP TIE Runcorn Town celebrated their debut in the FA Cup with a 4-1 victory over Baris Northern Counties East side Brighouse Town. The home side only had to wait 14 minutes for the opening goal, Scott Burton writing his name into the history books with the first ever FA Cup goal with a sweetly despatched free kick from 20 yards. Four minutes later it was 2-0, with Jason Carey's intelligent lob from the byline finding James McShane, with the North West Counties League leading goalscorer finding the net with a low shot. The third goal arrived three minutes into the second half, with Emini Agegbenro celebrating his second goal in as many games. And after 57 minutes it was four, Ryan Malone getting clear down the left hand side before unselfishingly squaring it for McShane who scored his seventh of the season. Brighouse pulled one back after 76 minutes, but Town comfortably saw out the win. Click here for match report Posted at 20:42 on Saturday 20th August 2011 - Viewed 529 times |
