TOWN EDGE CLOSER TO PROMOTION

Runcorn Town edged a step closer to a first time promotion from Vodkat League Division One after a 3-0 victory at Leek CSOB.

Town took the lead after 28 minutes with Emini Adegbenro marking his return to the starting XI with a fine goal. Tony Wynne held up the ball in midfield before playing the ball into the path of Adegbenro who coolly finished into the corner of the net.

Ten minutes later James McShane doubled the lead with his 35th goal of the season. Ian Robinson's lob putting him one on one with Rob Hackney, with McShane scoring at the second attempt after his first effort was saved.

The game was wrapped up with five minutes remaining with Wynne getting clear of the defence from Scott Burton's through ball. Hackney also saved his initial effort but Wynne followed up to stroke the ball into the empty net.
