MONK DEFEAT TOWN RESERVES

Runcorn Town Reserves' hopes of promotion from Cheshire League Division Two suffered a blow with a 2-0 defeat at Monk FC.

The result sees Monk replace Town in third place in the table, with Town falling to fifth after Whitchurch Alport's 3-1 win over Rudheath Social.

Leigh Marsden scored from the penalty spot to give Monk the lead, with David Hughes' 88th minute strike giving the home side all three points.
