TOWN PLAYERS WIN AWARDS
Runcorn Town have made it a clean sweep in the Vodkat League Monthly Awards with Mark McGrath picking up Player of the Month and Karl Wills picking up the Goalkeeper of the Month.

Congratulations go to both players from everyone at the club, and details are below.

Mark had a superb month for Runcorn Town and made the step up from the Reserve team to become one of the first names on Simon Burton's teamsheet.

After a cameo appearance in August at Oldham Boro, he knuckled down to put in man-of-the-match performances on a seemingly weekly basis for the Reserves which allowed him to force his way into the starting XI against AFC Liverpool in early February. Mark put in an commanding display, dominating the midfield battle and scoring his first goal for the club's First Team.

He retained his shirt for the next game at home to Oldham Boro, where he was again on the scoresheet as well as setting up three more in a 9-1 win in a game where many gave him man-of-the-match. Mark has since started the last three games for Runcorn, grabbing himself another assist against Oldham, with solid performances in all games. Winning this award is perfect recognition of the performances he has put in since stepping up to Vodkat League football.

Karl is one of the main reasons that Runcorn went unbeaten throughout February, and he performed well in all six games. At AFC Liverpool, he pulled off several fine saves in the first half as AFC threatened, and commanded the defence well at home to Daisy Hill where only a misplaced back header from a team mate denied him a clean sheet.

At Wigan Robin Park he pulled off several outstanding saves on a rain drenched surface including a full length dive to keep out Chris McNally, and could do nothing about Wigan's goals on the night. A clean sheet then followed in a win against Oldham where he had little to do but was alert when called upon, and he kept Runcorn in the game in the second half against Irlam when the visitors had a prolonged period on top, pulling off more good saves.

His finest game came at Chadderton on the last Saturday in the month when he again was pivotal in Runcorn taking all three points, with a fine save to keep out Dan Shaw in the first half as well as several other second half efforts. He effectively won the game in stoppage time for Runcorn when he saved TWO penalties after the referee ordered a retake following the first, and his performances over the month have helped his side to take over from AFC Blackpool at the top of the Division One table.
