LAST GASP TOWN DEFEAT IRLAM
Runcorn Town recovered from letting slip a two goal lead to overcome Irlam 3-2 in a topsy turvey match at Pavilions.

Tony Wynne put Town ahead after 29 minutes after racing clear of the defence from the halfway line and rounding the keeper before slotting the ball into the empty net. Six minutes later it was two with Connor Anderson expertly finding the corner of the net to double the lead after being released by Wynne.

The first half was held up for about ten minutes with Irlam's Dean Tymon stretchered off after twisting awkwardly on the pitch. He was later transferred to Warrington Hospital and everyone from Town wishes him the best.

Town should have been further ahead in the second half with Anderson forcing a good save from Chris Petrov when one-on-one and opting to square the ball for Wynne when in a similar position later on only for a defender to intercept.

Irlam pulled one back after 70 minutes through Ashley Kelly who slotted past Karl Wills after weaving his way through a crowded penalty area. Two minutes later Ian Robinson wasting a glorious chance to restore the two goal lead after hitting Warren Bellew's cross over the bar and less than 60 seconds later Irlam were level with leading scorer Chris Palmer bundling the ball over the line despite Danny Dalton's efforts to keep it out.

With time running out Town were awarded a controversial penalty with Simon Mysercough dismissed in the resulting melee. James McShane kept his cool to convert the spot kick to put Town within three points of league leaders AFC Blackpool with Town having a superior goal difference.
