OFF-KEY TOWN BEAT ECCLESHALL
Runcorn Town made it four wins on the road in the Vodkat League but put in an off-key performance as they beat Eccleshall 3-1.

After a cagey opening from both sides, Mark Hall had a chance after ten minutes for the home side with a shot from the edge of the box that went straight at Karl Wills. However it was Town who had the perfect opportunity to go ahead after 16 minutes when Tony Wynne was upended in the box. James McShane though send his spot kick over the bar with Eccleshall breathing a sigh of relief.

Town took the lead after 29 minutes with Molyneux sending a hopeful ball forward which Wynne ran onto, with the diminutive striker outjumping Watson to head the ball into the empty net.

Eccleshall went close either side of the break with Tom Loraso shooting wide, one with an open goal at his mercy, and Marvin Molyneux made the home side regret their missed chances with the second after 55 minutes. He controlled Warren Bellew's cross from the left in the box and found sent the ball across goal and past Watson to make it 2-0.

With Eccleshill pushing on to try and get back into the game, Town had chances to further extend the lead before a good passing move saw the ball spread from right to left where Dave Roberts unleashed a curling effort which went in off the underside of the bar.

Eccleshall's goal came with just a minute remaining when Loraso crossed from the left hand side with leading scorer Dwayne Spence seeing his shot balloon in the air. However the forward was quickest to react and his volley found the corner of the net with Wills given no chance.
