TOWN RESERVES HUMBLED IN CUP SHOCKER
Runcorn Town Reserves crashed out of the Cheshire Amatuer Cup at the last 16 stage as they had no answer an experienced Middlewich Town side who ran out 6-1 winners.

Town got off to a perfect start with Dave Graven volleying in Mike Chesters corner in the opening minute of the contest, but Middlewich, who play in Cheshire League Division One, hit back to lead 3 - 1 at the break and things went from bad to worse in the second half when they conceded an early goal from a long ball down the middle.

Town had to go chasing the game which left them very exposed to the counter attacking style which obviously suited their experienced visitors. It was a game in which keeper Carl Williams didn't deserve to have to pick the ball out of his net six times for despite his heroics between the Town sticks.

Three of the visitors goals came following his great saves to deny the first shots, but each time the ball broke kindly for the visitors to capitalise and run out easy 6 - 1 winners.
