TOWN'S WINNING STREAK GOES AT LAIRDS
Cammell Laird ended Runcorn Town's 26-game unbeaten run stretching back to last October with two early injuries giving Town an uphill battle from the start.

Robbie Moore went off after just three minutes with a twisted knee, with Alex Bishop opening the scoring into an empty net four minutes later after Dave Parkinson's clearance hit him.

After ten minutes Lee Mullin, who was making his debut for the club at left back, went down awkwardly and was stretched off with what was later diagnosed as a dislocated kneee.

Town, who had won their last 15 West Cheshire games, got a penalty after 27 minutes after Adam Carden was felled in the box, but Shaun Tierney's spot kick was saved by the keeper low down to his left.

Two minutes into the second half Bishop converted from the spot for the home side to double their lead. The visitors pressured with Ryan Wade pulling one back after 56 minutes with a low shot from just inside the box, and Lairds somehow survived ten minutes later with Wade's two shots saved by the keeper before Kyle Marsid blasted against the bar.

Despite going all out for the equaliser, Lairds held on to move level on points with Town, although Town still lead the West Cheshire League on goal difference with New Brighton and West Kirby also on 12 points.
