TOWN WIN IN RETURN TO LEAGUE ACTION
Runcorn Town's first Vodkat League game for three weeks ended with another three points as Cheadle Town were defeated 5-1 at Pavilions.

Cheadle started the brighter and were the better team for the opening half hour, but the contest changed with a sending off for Andy Lindon after a two footed lunge on Danny Dalton.

Town capitalised on having the extra man after 37 minutes when a Jason Carey cross from the right was turned in by James McShane from close range, but Cheadle hit back just before half time to send the teams in level. A free kick from Dan Brokenbrow on the right eluded everyone except Aaron Riley at the back post, with Riley coolly volleying home his fourth goal of the season.

Town came out in forceful mood for the second half and were ahead just Runcorn Town made their extra man show in the second half and were ahead almost from the start with Carey playing a lovely one-two with McShane before firing powerfully into the bottom corner.

Carey went close to adding a second with a 25-yard effort that grazed the crossbar, but after 55 minutes it was 3-1 with McShane grabbing his second of the match by tucking home from close range after Carey's selfish run bamboozled the visiting defence.

It was 4-1 after 71 minutes when a cross to the right found substitute Tony Wynne whose shot across goal struck the post before being turned in by Warren Bellew. And two minutes later it was five with Wynne stroking home his first Vodkat League goal by sliding in to connect with Bellew's low drive from the left.
