Runcorn Town progressed to the next round of the Vodkat League Cup after a 2-1 away victory at AFC Liverpool to set up a home tie with Congleton Town.
Both teams made changes to what would have been their regular starting XI, with Danny Salt, Chris Brown and Tony Wynne making their first starts of the season and Dave Roberts returning after missing out against Atherton LR.
James McShane put Town ahead after 26 minutes after Vodkat League Keeper of the Month Jack Baker spilled a Tony Wynne effort to allow McShane to score into the empty net from two yards out.
Seven minutes later Liverpool were level with ex-Town frontman Aarron Stafford scoring. He capitalised on a slip from Danny Dalton on the corner of the box before curling a shot over Karl Wills into the top right corner.
Town retook the lead after 58 minutes when Vodkat Player of the Month Marvin Molyneux was allowed space to run in midfield before playing a delightful ball into McShane who rounded Baker to score his second of the day.
Wynne could have made it 3-1 late on when he headed wide from Roberts left wing cross, but Town comfortably held on to progress to the next round.
