TOWN REGISTER DEBUT VASE WIN Runcorn Town marked their debut in the FA Carlsberg Vase by recording their first ever victory with a 3-1 victory at KoolSport Northern Counties East Premier League side Parkgate.Town opened the scoring after 22 minutes when Mini's cross from the right found James McShane in the box, with Parkgate's keeper wrestling him to the ground to concede a penalty. McShane himself got up to take it and found the top right hand corner to become Town's first ever goalscorer in the Vase. The home side stunned Town with an equaliser after 31 minutes. A free kick from the right hand side was whipped in, with defender Matt Griffin volleying in from close range. The second half saw Town come out and continue to press, and they got their reward seven minutes into the half as they went ahead for the second time. Kyle Hamid swung in a corner from the left hand side with Jason Carey heading at the near post. Town's third goal came after 71 minutes from another corner by Hamid. This time Parkgate failed to clear with Carey eventually bundling the ball goalwards with the linesman ruling it had crossed the line. Town now travel to Vodkat Premier League side Atherton LR in the First Round Proper in two weeks time after they held off a late comeback by Ashton Athletic to win 3-2.
