TOWN DEDUCTED THREE POINTS

Runcorn Town have this evening been deducted three points for fielding an ineligible player in the opening day victory over Abbey Hey.

The registration form of defender Greg Byrne, who has been with Town for the last two seasons, was not sent off to the league pre-season, with the fact only coming to light the day after the match.

Town immediately notified the league who met last Tuesday evening and declared that the points must be deducted as per league rules.

The deduction takes effect this evening as clubs have seven days in which to appeal if they so wish.
