RESILIANT TOWN COMEBACK AGAINST WINSFORD
Runcorn Town continued their excellent pre-season form with a 3-3 draw at home to Vodkat Premier Division side Winsford United.

Winsford provided the sternest test yet of the five games played as they fielded their first choice XI. The Vodkat Premier side had several chances to go ahead but were thwarted by Karl Wills in goal, and the only time Wills was beaten, Danny Dalton was there to clear off the line.

Town did well to soak up the pressure, and after 32 minutes got their reward with a goal that came pretty much against the run of play. Tony Wynne got in following a misplaced header by a Winsford defender before lobbing the keeper.

The second half got off to a perfect start for Town with Emini Adegbenro doubling the lead two minutes in. Jason Carey, one of five half time substitutes for Town, sent a long past from the right to Mini, with the winger hitting a fierce shot that went in off the right hand post.

Winsford pulled one back after 55 minutes when a cross from the left was headed into the bottom left hand corner with Dave Ginever slipping as the cross came in. Town should have increased the lead with 20 minutes remaining when a cross from the right found Marvin Molyneux in front of goal with just the keeper to beat, but he could not connect.

James McShane also went close with a lob from the edge of the box which went just wide, but the visitors were level after 78 minutes when a deep cross from the right was headed past Karl Wills.

The game swung Winsford's way with just three minutes remaining when they took the lead for the first time. Once again it was a headed goal following a cross from the right hand side, and it is hard to argue that Wills could have done anything about any of them.

However Town's resiliancy showed as they equalised with the last kick of the game in stoppage time. A cross from the left was flicked on by a defender with Wynne quick to react to stop the ball going for a corner. He sent in a cross to the back post and found James McShane whose powerful header found the net.
