TOWN MIXED FORTUNES IN HOLYHEAD
Runcorn Town had mixed fortunes in the double header friendly matches against Holyhead Hotspur on Saturday.

The first game of the day kicked off at 12.30pm with Town playing against a strong wind. Dan McGuiness put Holyhead ahead after 29 minutes with a long range wind assisted effort that flew past Carl Williams, and the lead was doubled after an hour with a well worked goal that Michael Williams converted from just inside the box.

With 20 minutes remaining Holyhead went 3-0 up with a shot from 20 yards that deflected over Williams and looped into the net, with Mark Toohey coming the closest for Town with a long range effort that flew just over the bar.

The second game was at 3.00pm with Town playing some delightful football in much better conditions than the first game.

James McShane went close early on with a snap shot that hit the crossbar, with McShane inches away from getting on the end of Emini Adegbenro's cross following a good move.

Adegbenro eventually put Town ahead after 54 minutes when he cut in from the right and advanced into the box before shooting into the bottom corner.

Holyhead missed a great chance to score after 63 minutes when Karl Wills saved a penalty following a handball in the box, with Wills going full length to his left to make the save. James McShane then showed the home side how it's done by putting Town 2-0 up from the spot after 78
minutes after Tyson Eyo was fouled in the box.

Town would like to place on record our thanks to Holyhead for their superb hospitality, and look forward to welcoming them to Runcorn next pre-season for return matches.
