A 22nd minute goal from former Town player Connor Taylor won the Runcorn & District FA Cup Final for Helsby with a 1-0 victory over a lacklustre Town team.
The goal came with Town losing possession in midfield, with the ball played up to Taylor who nipped in between Ste Latham and Richie Mottram before firing the ball into the empty net.
Town should have been awarded at least one spot kick with Tony Wynne twice felled in the box with the referee waving away protests in both decisions. Tyson Eyo went closest for Town with a volley from Ian Robinson's cross, but his shot went wide.
With Town pressing, Helsby could have sewn up the game late on with counter attacks with Mottram denying Taylor, but they comfortably saw out the game for a deserved victory.
