BIG NIGHT FOR BOTH TOWN TEAMS
We will have a much clearer picture after tonight's matches as to where the title will end up in both West Cheshire League One and Three.

Town are in action in their final league match of the season at home to Upton A.A. (7.30pm kick off) and they need a victory to keep alive hopes of finishing in the top two and thus automatic promotion to the Vodkat League.

After Saturday's defeat at Cammell Laird Reserves, Town are still in with a mathematical chance of winning the Division One title. However they need a few results to go their way, including Helsby to beat West Kirby (6.30pm). If West Kirby get at least a point, Town cannot win the league.

Tonight's other game sees Lairds entertain Heswall, with the ideal result for Town being a draw. If Lairds win then again Town cannot win the league.

A win for both West Kirby and Lairds this evening would see Town unable to finish in the top two.

So should Town and Helsby win and Lairds/Heswall draw tonight, then we would need Lairds to lose (or maybe draw) against Newton on Saturday for Town to win the league.

Updates on all the night's games can be found on this website this evening.

If you thought Division One was complex, then the Division Three picture is even more so. Mersey Royal once again failed to turn up on Saturday against Hale. The West Cheshire League have a meeting on Thursday evening, with one option open to them being to expunge their record from the league.

Town Reserves are pencilled in to face Mersey Royal on Saturday, but we will not know until Friday morning as to whether this goes ahead or not.

More immediately, Hale are in action tonight at Blacon Youth Club Reserves where they should comfortably take all three points. A point for Hale would mean Town Reserves cannot catch them. If Hale win tonight and Mersey Royal are expelled on Thursday, then Hale will win the title.

Realistically Town Reserves are aiming for second place with Richmond Raith Rovers currently in the driving seat. They are at Christleton Reserves tonight in their final game of the season, and a win for them would also mean we are unable to catch them.

Therefore wins for Hale and Richmond this evening would see Town Reserves unable to finish in the top two.

Should they draw then Town Reserves would need to beat Capenhurst Villa Reserves on Wednesday and (subject to it being played) Mersey Royal on Saturday in order to finish second.

However just to throw one more spanner in the works, Prescot Cables Reserves, who have completed their fixtures, have appealed against Mossley Hill Athletic Reserves alledgedly playing an unregistered player in their 1-1 draw earlier this month.

If the league find Mossley Hill guilty, then this game would have to be replayed on Saturday 8th May. A win in this game would give them promotion despite what Town or Richmond do in the meantime.
