The concentration on Saturday was at the bottom of West Cheshire League One with none of the top four teams in league action.
Second bottom Vauxhall Motors Reserves gained a valuable 2-0 win over Upton AA, with hithero third bottom Ellesmere Port jumping three places to 11th after a 2-1 win at Marine Reserves. That result saw Halton, who were without a game, slip to 13th.
Maghull beat Blacon Youth Club 2-1 with Blacon still searching for their first win of the season, whilst Willaston hammered Newton 5-1. Heswall v Christleton was called off.
Monday saw Town drop to second in West Cheshire League One for the first time since January as West Kirby defeated Upton A.A. 2-0. West Kirby's win made it an incredible 34 points from the last 36 available for the Wirral side who are heavy favourites to win the league with just three games to go.
Just two points behind Town and with a game in hand are Cammell Laird Reserves, who made it 29 points from a possible 33 with a 1-0 win over Christleton.
Wednesday sees Town playing at home against Helsby (who also played on Monday beating Newton 2-1) in a game kicking off at 7.30pm. Other games include Heswall at home to Vauxhall Motors, West Kirby at home to Maghull, and Cammell Laird travelling to Willaston.
Saturday's no show at Pavilions by Mersey Royal saw Town Reserves slip to third in Division Three with Town's three rivals all winning. Leaders Hale won 4-2 at Manor Athletic with Paul Hart hitting three, Robert Madine also scored three as Richmond Raith Rovers won 5-3 at Upton AA Reserves, whilst Prescot Cables Reserves beat Ashville Reserves 4-0. All four leading teams have now played 21 games with three remaining.
Town Reserves also had a bad night on Monday and are now down to fourth place with Richmond Raith Rovers beating Mersey Royal 3-0 to consolidate second position in the league. Prescot Cables Reserves have moved up to third after winning 2-1 at Ellesmere Port Reserves.
Prescot are bizarrely also in action on Wednesday at home to Upton AA Reserves, despite the fact that neither side have a game next Saturday.
