SOUTHPORT TRINTY REMOVED FROM LEAGUE Following their failure to turn up to two games earlier this month and with a liklihood that they will fail to complete their fixtures this season, Southport Trinity Reserves have been removed from West Cheshire League Three and their record expunged. The decision gives an unexpected boost to Town's hopes of finishing in the top two after drawing 3-3 away at Trinity in November. Town are now second in the table, three points behind Hale and two points ahead of Richmond Raith Rovers, although both have one game in hand. Not everyone will be happy with the decision though, particularly Town's strikers. James McShane scored seven in the home league tie as Town ran out 14-0 winners. West Cheshire's leading scorer Aarron Stafford also scored four against Trinity with two in either game, although he may be comforted in the fact that Paul Hart, his rival from Hale for the golden boot, notched a hat-trick against them! In other West Cheshire Three news, there have been ELEVEN applications for next season, although this has since been reduced with Castrol Social Reserves and Claughton not being put forward to the vote after their grounds were unsuitable. The others applicants were AFC Bebington Athletic Reserves, Hale Reserves, Helsby Reserves, Marshalls Reserves, Merseyside Police, Neston Nomads, New Brighton Reserves, Runcorn Linnets Reserves and Widnes Town. With Town resigning both teams from the West Cheshire League, and doubts over whether Southport Trinity Reserves and St Werburghs will be allowed to retain membership, we are as yet unsure of how many spaces are available (or indeed who may go up / not go down).
