
Results went against Runcorn Town on Saturday following our 2-2 draw against Newton.
Second placed West Kirby accounted for fellow Runcorn side Halton FC with a 5-1 win at Pavilions to move within four points of Town with two games in hand.
Third place Heswall won 3-1 at Helsby and are also four points behind with one game in hand. Fourth placed Cammell Laird Reserves also took all three points in a 1-0 win at Castrol Social, and are five points behind with two games in hand.
Results continued to go against Town on Monday with all three contenders alongside Town all winning. West Kirby are now just a point behind Town with a game in hand after a 3-0 win over Blacon Youth Club. Heswall are also a point behind having played the same number of games after beating Helsby for the second time in three days, this time 2-1 at home. And Cammell Laird are just two points behind after a 4-0 win over Newton, with Lairds having a game in hand.
On Wednesday though, Town bounced back to winning ways with a 3-1 win at Willaston. The result keeps us top of the table but just one point clear of West Kirby who won 2-0 at Upton Athletic Association, however West Kirby do have one game in hand.
In Division Three, Hale are in the driving seat now after beating Town Reserves on Saturday 4-3. They are six points clear at the top with just four games remaining.
Just two points behind Town now are Richmond Raith Rovers who are unbeaten in eight games after Town's win there in January. They beat Ellesmere Port Reserves 5-2 on Saturday.
Ashville Reserves are fourth after a 2-0 win over Blacon Reserves, but are five points behind Town having played a game more. Another threat comes from fifth place Prescot Cables Reserves who didnt play at the weekend. They are six points behind Town with three games in hand.
Town Reserves ground out a goalless draw at Prescot Cables Reserves on Monday with Town no longer favourites to finish in the top two. That's because Richmond Raith Rovers are now level on points with Town after a 4-1 win at Capenhurst Villa Reserves, with Richmond having a game in hand.
Prescot's heavy schedule caught up with them slightly on Wednesday as they drew their third game in five days against Mossley Hill Athletic Reserves in a home game that was played at Mossley Hill. The result was 1-1.
