A second half hat-trick from Aarron Stafford was not enough to stop Town Reserves going down to a 4-3 defeat at leaders Hale.
Town put in one of their worst 45 minutes of the season in the first half with Hale taking a 3-0 lead in at half time. Ex-Town forward Paul Hart grabbed two goals to make it 30 league goals this season with John Turton scoring the other.
Whatever was said at half time worked wonders with Town emerging a different side. Stafford scored twice before controversially having a goal denied to make it 3-3 with the referee appearing to give it then change his mind.
Instead Turton added another to make it four before Stafford secured his hat-trick with his 34th goal of the season to ensure a tight finish.
