Runcorn Town FC are delighted to announce that they shall be playing home games in a brand new stadium which will be ready for the start of the 2011/12 season.
Top secret meetings have been taking place over the last few months between the club, Pavilions and a consortium headed by top Spanish property tycoon Sol Parlay Diof. The consortium have stated that they want the club to be in the Football League by 2020 and that funds will be in place to secure this.
Plans have already been drawn up and submitted to Halton Borough Council and we can exclusively reveal them today.
Town will play matches next season at the Halton Stadium in Widnes whilst their ground is extensively redeveloped into a 6,500 capacity stadium. A brand new clubhouse and bar will be constructed on the exisiting pitch adjacent to Runcorn Town FC where Halton and Runcorn Albion currently play, with a secure car park built with direct access from Picow Farm Road.
Mr Diof, who will become the new Chairman of Runcorn Town FC, will also take over the rest of the Pavilions site which he plans to develop in time into a new hotel and conference centre complete with an eighteen hole mini golf course.
Speaking exclusively to Runcorn Town Online, Mr Diof said "Businessmen make the mistake of spending millions taking over major football teams and then having to find millions more to achieve success. Runcorn has a population of over 60,000 people, and by taking over the club, we can spend a fraction of this to build a superb club at a top class facility and enjoy years of success as the club moves up the leagues".
Mr Diof has also insisted that a Helipad be constructed on the land at the far end of the complex so that he "can access games easier".
