TOWN EXTEND LEAD TO SIX POINTS
Runcorn Town moved six points clear at the top of West Cheshire League One after a hard fought 3-1 victory over Willaston at Pavilions.

Town went ahead after just eight minutes from the penalty spot with Jason Carey finding the right hand corner of the net with a powerful finish.

In what was a competitive game, the second goal took until the second half to arrive with Emini Adegbenro scoring possibly the goal of the season after 48 minutes. He picked the ball up deep in his own half and went on a 70-yard weaving run down the right before bursting into the box and finding the net.

Willaston pulled one back on the hour when Richie Foulkes burst clear of the Town defence and rounded keeper Lee Carroll before finding the net. However Town restored their two goal lead just over a minute later when Carey's pass towards Mini was cut out with Warren Bellew picking up the loose ball and finding the corner of the net.

Carey missed the chance to make it four with his second penalty of the match which he placed the same as his first, with the keeper guessing correctly to make the save.

Full report to follow in the morning.
