TOWN TOP LEAGUE AFTER WIN
Runcorn Town returned to the top of West Cheshire League One after a hard fought 2-1 victory over Ellesmere Port at Pavilions.

After an even and competitive first half in which both teams had opportunities to score, Town fell behind nine minutes into the second half when Mark Jones' free kick from the right hand side eluded everyone and crept into the corner of the net.

Two minutes later Town were level when a corner from the left hand side was only half cleared with Emini Adegbenro hitting a stunning strike into the bottom corner.

Town piled on the pressure with Marvin Molyneux's header cleared off the line and Jon McEvoy's header tipped onto the post. This pressure finally told after 64 minutes when Adegbenro raced onto an attempted backpass and rounded Bob McLaughlin before slotting the ball into the empty net.

Town could have had more with Warren Bellew going the closest with a strike from the edge of the box that came back off the left hand post, but Town comfortably saw out the game to move back to the top of the league.
