HALTON TRIUMPH IN DERBY
Halton ended Runcorn Town's unbeaten home record this season and avenged Tuesday's Pyke Cup defeat with a 2-1 victory in today's league game.

Liam Page put the visitors ahead after just 14 minutes when his corner from the left hand side crept in at the near post with keeper Carl Williams unable to keep it out.

Town gradually worked their way back into the game and equalised after 33 minutes when Ste Latham's glancing header from Tyson Eyo's free kick found the bottom right hand corner.

The home side pressured for a second before the break but failed to create any real clear cut chances, with Karl Kneale's last ditch tackle stopping Joe McCartney giving Halton a half time lead.

Halton retook the lead two minutes in the second half with Page the provider this time as he got away down the right hand side and crossed for Gary Tyrell to stroke the ball into the net.

Town created little of note with Halton keeper Neil Percival stopping Town's best effort when he twice saved from Simon Burton following Warren Bellew's cross.

As it was it was Halton who could have added to their tally with Paul Hives' free kick coming back off the left hand post and substitute Ray McDonald somehow hitting the ball wide when it looked easier to score.
