Runcorn Town overcame a spirited Halton side 1-0 in the First Round of the Pyke Cup, with a home tie against West Kirby in the Quarter Finals the reward.
Halton could have gone ahead in the first half when they hit the bar, but it was Town who took the lead after 32 minutes with Warren Bellew grabbing his ninth goal of the season.
Injuries were the main worry for Town in the second half with Karl Kneale and Ste Latham both coming off injured, and keeper Karl Wills hobbling to the finish.
