Tonight's Pyke Cup game between Runcorn Town and Halton has been called off with the pitch not fully recovered from the recent wet weather.
The problem with the pitch was inadvertantly caused when the floodlights were put in, with the trench for the cables redirecting rainwater from off the clubhouse onto the pitch instead of to the drain where it previously ran.
This has been rectified by the installation of a drains earlier this week, however the pitch still needs time to recover.
The club sees no problem with Saturday's West Cheshire Shield Quarter Final between Town Reserves and Prescot Cables Reserves, and hopefully the new drains will ensure that we get no more cancellations over the winter.
