Runcorn Town's Cheshire Cup tie against Helsby was called off 30 minutes before kick off after referee Ste Burleigh ruled that the pitch was unplayable.
Town thought that the game would go ahead with no standing water anywhere on the pitch, with officials even putting the nets up an hour before kick off after being 100% confident the game would go ahead.
However the referee ruled otherwise, and the game is now likely to be played next Saturday instead. This would mean that the Reserve team game against Southport Trinity would be postponed, and would therefore be without a game unless the West Cheshire League can arrange something.
