Town's pre-season officially kicked off on Saturday with the first team going down 2-1 to Mid-Cheshire League Champions Middlewich Town on a rain-sodden pitch at Pavilions.
With Town's pitch still unavailable due to the weather, the game was played on a pitch in front of the Pavilions clubhouse, yet the home side did not take too long to get used to the new surroundings with George Donnelly putting the home side in front within the first few minutes.
Town bossed much of the game until a host of substitutions allowed the visitors a route back into the game. Two goals in four minutes from Graham Kay and Lee Clarke late into the second half swung the game Middlewich's way, with Ryan Wade having a great chance to equalise late on with the keeper pulling off an excellent stop.
Pre-season for both teams got underway on Thursday evening with the first team running out 3-1 winners against the reserves.
The next game is for the Reserves on Tuesday when Liverpool side Warbreck are the visitors. Kick off is 7.30pm. We are still trying to organise a game for the first team.
