RELIEVED TOWN BEAT CHRISTLETON

Runcorn Town completed the double over Christleton with a 4-2 victory in Chester, but had to do it the hard way after defensive errors by Town allowed the home side back from two goals down to level.

The first half was one way traffic with Christleton limited to the odd counter attack as Town put in a dominant first half performance.

Despite being on top Town had to wait until the 41st minute when Emini Adegbenro weaved his way through the defence and rounded the keeper to open the scoring. In stoppage time it was two when Marvin Molyneux chipped the ball over the defence with Adegbenro firing first time past the keeper.

Ten minutes into the second half Christleton pulled one back when Danny Dalton's attempted pass across the back line was intercepted by Ben Carrigan and the forward raced goalwards before firing past Karl Wills.

And after 77 minutes the home side were level when a throw in from the left was flicked on with Craig Warrington putting Christleton level.

Town pushed forward and retook the lead three minutes later. Christleton were struggling to cope with crosses from both wings and with the defence expecting a cross from the left, Warren Bellew found the net with a cross-cum-shot.

The fourth goal came in stoppage time when Jon McEvoy was put clear of the defence, and the forward found the corner of the next to give a relieved Town all three points.
