MOND V CHEMICS ENDS ALL SQUARE
Mond Rangers & General Chemicals faced each other once more in yesterday's "friendly" vets match held at Runcorn Town FC.

A fairly large crowd seemingly enjoying the efforts of both sides in an unusually competitive game, as well as the pleasant weather conditions.

Although Mond started the stronger of the two teams it was Chem's who put their starting eleven of over 700 years in age in front with a neat finish from the evergreen Bobby Cooper.

This dented the confidence of the Mond players and, inevitably, Chem's went 2 - 0 up shortly afterwards with Ged Jacques converting - although stand-in goalkeeper Tony "Macca" McNamee would have been disappointed to concede at his near post.

To their credit Mond kept their heads high and were rewarded with a goal shortly before half time with a rare right-foot drive from Paul "Compo" Howard.

Half time score Mond 1 - 2 Gen Chem's

It was Mond who once again started the 2nd half more positively, but again it was Chem's who got the first goal of the half after 25 minutes had elapsed with another cool finish from "Coops".

Mond once again rallied though and, after hitting the bar with two thundering efforts from "Compo" and Mark "Tazza" Cahill they reduced the deficit to one with a goal scored by Andy Gott but somehow claimed by poacher Karl Thomas ( nice try Karl ! ).

The comeback was completed shortly before the end with a deserved equaliser from "Tazza", and referee Lindsay Berry was happy to blow the final whistle with the score at 3 - 3.

All involved in the proceedings would like to convey their sincere thanks to everybody involved at Runcorn Town for their help & assistance in putting on yesterday's match.
