Runcorn Town Reserves ended the season on a high by putting a huge dent in Mersey Royal's chances of promotion with a 4-1 win at Pavilions.
Danny Cummins put Town ahead after just ten minutes with a close range header after John Dover had flicked on Andy Doyle's cross. The second came ten minutes later when Matty Johnson layed the ball off from the right for Doyle to drive home from 20-yards, with the keeper having no chance.
Mersey Royal pulled one back early in the second half through (sorry but I didnt see it - I was watching the National!), but Town got a chance for a third after Cummins was brought down in the box. Adam Judge came up from between the sticks to take it and curled it high inside the left hand post for the third - Darren Moore watch out!
The fourth came from Paul Illidge's ball in behind a static Royal defence. With the visitors defence motionless in waiting for a whistle that never came, Matty Johnson ran on and rounded the keeper before scoring into an empty net.
