HELSBY THROUGH TO RUNCORN CUP FINAL

West Cheshire League Two leaders Helsby emerged victorious in tonight's Runcorn & District FA Cup Semi Final with a 1-0 victory over West Cheshire League One leaders Runcorn Town.

Nick Askey grabbed the only goal of the game in the 89th minute as he evaded the challenge of Greg Byrne and raced clear from the halfway line to round Karl Wills and put the ball into the net from an acute angle.

Town's best chance in the game fell to defender Byrne who headed one of Kyle Hamid's dangerous corners from the left into the ground with the ball hitting the crossbar as it bounced up.
