TOWN BEAT VICS TO STAY TOP
Runcorn Town avenged last season's two league defeats by Poulton Victoria with a 3-0 victory in today's West Cheshire League One meeting. The result keeps them top of the league with the top five teams all winning.

Town got off to the perfect start with Simon Burton opening the scoring after just four minutes. Ian Robinson did well on the left and put in a fantastic cross which Burton headed into the net.

Five minutes later it was 2-0 with Burton again the scorer. He got on the end of Joe Davies' flick and slotted the ball past the keeper for his 15th goal of the season.

Danny Dalton headed just wide from a Kyle Hamid corner and Davies saw a shot well blocked after skipping past the last defender on the right, but Vics failed to get into the game and could not get past Dalton and Matty Jones who were immense at the back.

Just after half time Robinson got brought down with Hamid hitting the resultant free kick into the top left corner to give Town a 3-0 lead.

The foot then came off the gas a little with Town happy to let Vics have possession, with Davies having the only noteworthy shot from the edge of the box after Robinson layed it off, with the shot going wide of the goal.
