The West Cheshire League have been rocked by the resignation from Division One of New Brighton. The Wirral club have had a poor start to the season, losing all four games they have played and not yet scoring a goal. They resigned on Monday.
The West Cheshire League Division One will now revert to 16 teams as it was two seasons ago before Marine Reserves were voted in. Teams with results against New Brighton will have them wiped off, with Aintree Villa, Castrol Social, Maghull, Poulton Vics all having three points taken off their tally.
Runcorn Town, who was due to play New Brighton in a tricky looking tie in the Pyke Cup, will get a bye to the Quarter Finals.
The decision does not affect New Brighton Reserves who will continue in Division Two.
