Runcorn Town Reserves maintained their three point advantage at the top of West Cheshire League Three after a 2-1 victory over St Werburgh's at Pavilions. The result made it four wins from four this season with Town Reserves now having won their last nine West Cheshire League games spanning from last season.
Connor Anderson put Town ahead after 15 minutes of the game when he won possession 25-yards from goal and turned to hit a powerful curling shot into the bottom left hand corner.
Pete Murphy had a chance to make it 2-0 after 32 minutes with the keeper denying him with a good save, with Werburgh's unlucky not to equalise after 38 minutes with a free header put just over when unmarked.
Alan Bond doubled the advantage two minutes into the second half with a header from Danny Cummins' right wing corner, with Murphy winning the corner with a drive from the edge of the box which the keeper did well to turn wide.
Murphy had another chance after 57 minutes when a quick free kick released Wes Farrington on the right, and his cross into the box left fell to Murphy who uncharacteristically put it over the bar.
Werburgh grabbed what proved to be a consolation goal three minutes from time when James (definitely James!) Orme failed to hold a shot from the edge of the box with Jamie Moss turning it in from close range.
