ARMITAGE SURPRISE APPOINTMENT
Nick Armitage, who resigned as manager of Runcorn Town FC less than three weeks ago, has surprisingly been re-appointed by the club as manager.

Armitage, who guided the club to third place in West Cheshire League One last season and won the Runcorn Cup, initially resigned in order to seek a job further up the football pyramid, but changed his mind after reflecting on his decision.

He said “I went for a chat with two North West Counties League teams, and did not get the same vibe that I had at Runcorn. Players from last season had also been on to me asking to reconsider, and I wondered whether I had done the right thing in resigning. Therefore I reapplied for the position, went for the interview and am happy to accept the job in order to carry on what I started last season”.

Martin Fallon, Press Officer for Runcorn Town added, “We were more than happy with what Nick achieved last season, but the club completely understood his decision to look elsewhere after the club failed to achieve North West Counties League status for this season. It was a tough decision on who to appoint, and we had to take a few days after the interviews to reflect, but we ultimately felt that it was right to let Nick continue his good work from last season.”
