RESERVES CONSOLIDATE THIRD PLACE
Runcorn Town Reserves consolidated third place in West Cheshire League Three after a comfortable win over Shaftesbury with some outstanding goals.

Peter Murphy charged down the keepers clearance with the ball rebounding into the net for the first after 17 minutes, then a marvellous move involving five players was started and finished by Kyle Mayers who hit a powerful volley across the keeper (26min).

Danny Cummins grabbed the third just before the interval, but John Cubbins' persistence pulled a goal back immediately after the restart. A fierce, dipping, swerving shot from Paul Illidge after 73 minutes gave the keeper no chance, and two minutes later unselfish work by Anton Ellison set up Craig Beech who completed the scoring.

Town Reserves need one more point from their remaining three games to ensure a top three finish, with Bronze Social and Mossley Hill Athletic already promoted.
