TOWN RESERVES TO REMAIN IN DIVISION THREE
Runcorn Town Reserves will be playing West Cheshire Three football next season after a 3-2 loss at Mossley Hill Athletic on Wednesday ensured promotion for the top two.

Town could have mathmatically caught leaders Bronze Social and opponents Mossley Hill if they won all remining games and the others dropped points, but they fell behind to a hard working Athletic side midway through the first half when Ben Franklin was put clear and lobbed Martin Gill who had to come out to try to get to the ball first.

The lead was doubled ten minutes into the second half when a Franklin shot from 20yards deceived Gill and rolled into the net, however Town pulled one back soon after when Danny Cummins' free kick was layed off to Reece Conlan who drilled into the bottom corner from 25 yards.

Mossley Hill, who knew a win would put them up, increased their advantage with ten minutes remaining when a free kick from the right was lofted to the back post, headed back across goal and turned in by Franklin. Mark Tudor gave Town hope with a headed goal from a corner with five minutes remaining, but Athletic held out to give them a deserved promotion in their debut West Cheshire season.
