Runcorn Town fell to their third successive defeat at Poulton Vics this evening with ill-discipline costing Town dear as they succumbed to a 4-2 defeat.
Town squandered four good chances in the opening quarter and were made to pay after 24 minutes when Karl Wills could only turn Jay Clare's excellent free kick onto a post with Lee Hammond tapping home from two yards. However Town were level within a minute with Ian Robinson putting James McShane clear with the striker advancing before lifting the ball over the keeper.
The second half saw Vics regain the lead within five minutes with Ian Sheridan slotting home a debatable penalty after Wills felled Kevin Davies. And ten minutes later it was 3-1 after the referee awarded Vics a free kick on the edge of the box for something only he saw with Clare despatching another excellent free kick into the bottom left hand corner.
Town pulled on back with 17 minutes remaining with Robinson doing well on the left and crossing low for McShane to notch his 26th goal of the season. However Joe Davies made the task much harder when he was dismissed after a second yellow two minutes later.
Davies broke with ten minutes remaining to make it 4-2 with substitute Kyle Hamid becoming Town's second player dismissed three minutes before the end. Robinson had a good chance to make pull another back after battling his way through but shot wide of the post, with the forward becoming Town's third player sent off just after the final whistle after receiving a straight red card.
