CHESHIRE FINALS HAILED A SUCCESS
Runcorn Town FC were congratulated today after hosting the Finals of the Cheshire County FA Minor and Junior Challenge Cup Finals, with the day hailed a success by County officials with almost 500 spectators in attendance throughout the day.

In the first final at 11.00am, which was the Minor Final between Prestbury FC and Ashville Youth, Ashville (pictured right) emerged comfortable 5-1 winners. However the main difference between the two sides was striker Liam Rigby who took home the matchball after scoring four and setting up the other for Callum Riley. Prestbury's goal, which pulled the scores level at 1-1, was scored by Josh Rowbotham.

The second final at 2.00pm saw Vauxhall Motors FC face Hazel Grove in the Junior Final. Despite good early pressure Vauxhall fell behind to Ross Needham's low shot. Hazel Grove (pictured left) then went 2-0 up through Adam Knowles, who kept his composure went sent clear, and it was three shortly after when a well worked corner fell to Andy Bailey who volleyed home.

Vauxhall's managed what proved to be a consolation goal midway through the half with Andrew Stubbs turning the ball in from close range after Hazel Grove failed to clear the ball. However the Manchester team comfortably saw out the game to emerge worthy winners of the trophy.

The club, and indeed Cheshire FA, would like to thank the players and management of all four teams for their conduct throughout the day which was a credit to their clubs.
